While many visitors park at Carver’s Gap for the hike to the balds, this lot fills up quickly.

The Roan Mountain Day Use Area (a short 1.8-mile drive away) provides easy access to incredible views at Roan High Knob.

The Roan Highlands are only the beginning. There are over 250 trails in the Pisgah National Forest.

Over 600 miles of non-motorized trails traverse the Cherokee National Forest, including nearly 150 miles of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail.
